Clay came into earth on May 14th, 1986 in Northridge, California. He went to Agoura High in Agoura Hills, California. He was a walk on at the University of Southern California. He got drafted by the packers in 2009 in the first round. He started had a tremendous season and finished third in the 2009 Rookie of the year award voting. Clay Matthews dad, Clay Matthews Jr, also played linebacker for the Cleveland Browns and Atlanta Falcons for 19 seasons. His uncle also played in the NFL for 19 seasons as a offensive lineman.
